The existing Engine 31 which has received significant wear
as the staff engine over the past 5 years will become a reserve engine.
The current reserve engine, the oldest in the fleet (1987) will be
retired.
Question: where do we plan to store a new engine and what will we do
with the one now stored there?
Answer: The new engine would go to Station 3. The engine it replaces
would go to Station 1. The engine that vehicle replaces will be sold.
Stated another way, the new engine is not an ADDITION to the fleet. It
is a REPLACEMENT.
Question: Does the $470,000 cost include an offset for the sale/trade-in
(can you trade-in fire
engines?)of the old one? If so, how much do we expect to get for it?
Answer: The expected trade-in value for the 1987 engine will be in the
$2,500-$5,000 range, IF there is a buyer. We did not fact that into the
cost because we do not know what revenue it would bring, if any.
Question: Is the Fire Marshall vehicle just a car, or is it one of the
Suburban vehicles that we use to respond to medical events?
Answer: The Fire Marshal vehicle is a cargo van. The replacement vehicle
will likely be another van on state bid.
Question: How old is the old one?
Answer: The Fire Marshal vehicle is a 1997.
Question: Is this a "net" figure that includes an offset for whatever
we'd get in trade?
Answer: We do not anticipate this vehicle to have a trade-in value
sufficient to off-set the cost of its replacement.
Question: Rescue Boat - Why do we need a new one? Has there ever been
any issue with the old one? Is there any mechanical issue with the
motor? If so, what would be the cost of replacing that v. the whole
1
