Dear Council, Councilmember Roe has requested some additional budget information in preparation for tonight's meeting (see email below). The attached file contains a comparison of the various budget scenarios. With the proposed reductions in the levy, the City's tax rate for 2009 is estimated to be 25.5$. In 2008, the .rate was 23.48. A zero levy increase would necessitate the cutting of an additional $582,500 in spending above and beyond what has already been eliminated. For comparison purposes, this is the equivalent of 10 full-time employees. Staff will be prepared to speak to this further at tonight's meeting. Christopher K. Also, what is the new tax rate that would result from your proposed changes to the levy? Finally, be prepared for inquiries about the target of a $0 increase in the levy over 2008, as 2 think that was the #3 option that we had asked you to consider. Of course, that would mean cutting spending in other areas by the $355,000 that we added in debt funding for the skating center. 1
