40 term. Upon the expiration of such member's term of office, a member shall continue to serve <br />41 until such member's successor is appointed and shall have qualified. <br />42 C. Compensation; Removal: The members of the commission shall serve without <br />43 compensation, and may be removed from office by a 4/5 vote of the City Council. (Ord. <br />44 566, 2-19-1968) <br />45 204.05: DUTIES: <br />46 In fulfillment of its purpose, the commission's duties and responsibilities shall be to: <br />47 A. Adopt bylaws and rules for the conduct of its affairs including the election, assumption of <br />48 duties and definition of responsibilities of officers and committees. <br />49 S. Enlist the cooperation of agencies, organizations and individuals in the community in an <br />50 active program directed to create equal opportunity and eliminate discrimination and <br />51 inequalities. <br />52 C. Formulate a human relations program for the city to give increased effectiveness and <br />53 direction to the work of all individuals and agencies addressing themselves to planning, <br />54 policy making and educational programming in the area of civil and human rights. <br />55 D. Advise the mayor, the City Council and other agencies of the government of human <br />56 relations and civil rights problems. Act in an advisory capacity with respect to planning or <br />57 operation of any city department on issues of civil and human rights and recommend the <br />58 adoption of such specific policies or actions as are needed to provide for full equal <br />59 opportunity in the community. <br />60 E. Develop such programs of formal and informal education as will assist in the <br />61 implementation of the Minnesota state act against discrimination, and provide for the <br />62 commission's assumption of leadership in recognizing and resolving potential problem areas <br />63 in the community. Monitor statistical and other data trends in our citv and identifv and recommend to the citX <br />65 council ways to encourage mutual understanding among our citizens about the community's <br />66 diversitv through, but not limited to: <br />67 1. connecting and �artnering with neighborhood, community, educational, business <br />68 and social services groups and organizations; <br />69 2. co-s�onsoring citywide neighborhood or facilitating community events which <br />70 would include o�ortunities for heritage and cultural events; and <br />71 3. programs for enga�ing citizens and community leaders in a holistic a�roach <br />72 including dialogues, education and training about diversitv issues. <br />73 <br />74 SECTION 2: Effective date.
