l�'�, <br />Jy <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />�-. <br />Item Description: 2008 Storm Water Report <br />Date: 5/11/09 <br />Item No.: 10.b <br />Acting City Manager Approval <br />��� <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City's Comprehensive Surface Water Management Plan, requires staff to provide a brief annual report to <br />summarize development changes, capital improvements, and other surface water management related issues that <br />have occurred over the past year. The report contains an in-depth discussion of the storm water issues that staff <br />has worked through during the course of the year. This allows the City to better plan for future storm water <br />needs. <br />Attached is the 2008 Storm Water Report describing the storm water related changes that occurred throughout the <br />City last year. These changes include problem areas updates, City projects in addition to redevelopment and <br />development projects. <br />Staff would also like to add one additional action item to the City's 2009 work plan. Last week, staff finalized a <br />quote from Norseman Plastics to purchase 130 Rain Barrels for $55 each. Staff proposes to market and sell these <br />rain barrels to interested residents for $55 plus tax. This initiative is consistent with the City Council's IR2025 <br />short term priorities. <br />POLICY OBJECTNE <br />These improvements recommended for inclusion in the 2009 storm water work plan are in keeping with the City of <br />Roseville's commitment to help the environment. These projects would retrofit storm water problem areas with BMPs <br />that would reduce the volume of runoff, while treating pollutants at the source. <br />� FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />, The City annually budgets for storm water system improvements in the Storm Water Utility.
