The <br />measureable goals we have seen the most effort towards are energy usage and updating of <br />equipment. The following is where we are at after the first 5 months of 2009: <br />2.2 Flat Panel Replacement <br />• The Public Works Building had 13 CRT monitors in 2008. We have reduced that number <br />down to 3 by normal replacement with flat panel monitors. <br />3.4 Fuel Reduction <br />• In 2008 we set a goal of a 5 percent fuel reduction by volume for 2009. At this time we have <br />achieved a reduction in the amount of fuel usage for the first 5 months of 2009 by 3.3 percent <br />5.1 Thermostats/Temperature I <br />• We have set the thermostats to 68 degrees in the winter and 72 degrees in the summer. We <br />have also programmed the heating boilers to shut down when the temperature reaches the <br />designated set point. <br />5.3 Energy Management <br />• We have reduced our energy usage in City Hall and Public Works. <br />• City Hall: Gas down 18.5% Electric down 0.1 % <br />• Public Works: Gas down 10.7% Electric down 8.5% <br />These numbers were generated using 153 days of usage starting January 1St in both 2008 and <br />2009. Weather variations can have an impact although the first months of 2009 were relatively <br />cool when looking at averages. <br />Fuel Contract Savings <br />The City entered into a fixed price contract for fuel purchases for 2009. We locked into a guaranteed <br />price for 75% of our average purchases for April through December. We did not lock in for the first three <br />months of the year as we suspected we may see below contract pricing until the typical seasonal rise in <br />
