Department Approval <br />l�'�, <br />Jy <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 6-29-09 <br />Item No.: 12.d <br />City Manager Approval <br />� / <br />Item Description: Community Development Department Request to Perform a City <br />Abatement for Unresolved Violation of City Code at 2178 Cohansey <br />Boulevard. <br />BACKGROUND <br />• The subject property is a rented single family home. <br />• The current owner is listed as Khai Hong Lim and Shu Ping Teoh of Maplewood, Minnesota. <br />• Notice was sent May 28, 2009, requesting violations be corrected. <br />• Current violations include: <br />• Junk and construction debris behind fence (a violation of City Code Section 407.02.D and <br />407.03.H). <br />• Fence maintenance requires repair and painting (a violation of City Code Section 402.04.J <br />and 906.05.C). <br />• Garbage in front yard (a violation of City Code Section 407.02.D). <br />• Inoperable, unlicensed blue van in driveway (a violation of City Code Section 407.02.D). <br />• A status update, including pictures, will be provided at the public hearing. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The City goals within the Comprehensive Plan are to protect and improve property values (Goal 3, 4, <br />and 5; page 6 and, Section 3) and to adhere to performance standards which protect the integrity of the <br />housing units and the neighborhood (Policy 6, page 8, Section 3). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />City Abatement: <br />An abatement would encompass the following: <br />• Removal of junk, debris, and garbage: <br />o Approximately - $1, 200.00 <br />• Fence painting and repair: <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
