CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />Job Description Title: <br />Department/Division: <br />1�i <br />.�. <br />Desktop Support <br />Finance <br />Accountable To: IT Manager <br />Prepared By: Employers Association, Inc <br />,�OS DESCRIPTION <br />FLSA Status: Non-exempt / Non Union <br />Position Status: Regular Part-Time <br />Salary Grade: Non-exempt Level 9 <br />Revision Date: December 6, 2005 <br />Job Summar,� <br />Provides computer application support to city employees, and the employees of contract organizations. <br />Assists in maintaining network server applications, phone and voice mail systems. <br />Scope of Responsibilit� <br />The Desktop Support Specialist supports the system-wide information system network to ensure all <br />functions conducted in an effective, efficient and timely manner. <br />Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <br />1. Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. <br />2. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems related to all information systems. <br />3. Performs system backups and recovery. <br />4. Maintains anti-virus software system and applies appropriate updates. <br />5. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software <br />related problems. <br />6. Maintains voice mailboxes and assists city employees with voice mail related issues. <br />7. Performs other duties as apparent or assigned. <br />Minimum �ualif cations: <br />2-year Associate's degree, 4-year bachelor's degree preferred. 2-3 years work experience in a professional <br />capacity supporting computer end users. A+ Certification (CompTIA). Key characteristics include <br />thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office Professional software application suite, and working <br />knowledge of network operating systems; Windows NT Server, and Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory. <br />Preference given for Microsoft MCSE certified applicants. <br />Must have a valid Class D driver's license as the use of a personal vehicle is required. Mileage expense <br />reimbursement will be based on the City's personal vehicle use policy. <br />Phvsical Demands & Workin� Conditions: <br />Most work is performed in office environment settings at various locations, with extensive use of <br />computers and peripheral equipment. Position entails a scheduled 19 hour work week including evening <br />and weekend hours on a rotating basis. Limited lifting of forty pounds or less is required. <br />The Desktop Support Specialist must exercise discretion and judgment and is responsible for diverse <br />matters, some of which have deadlines and require significant attention to detail. Approximately 20% of <br />the time, work is performed at the highest level of detail and pressure of deadlines. <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />
