The need and desire to facilitate this request is clearly evident by the petit►on signatures of residents who live on this steetch. af Dale Street as �vell as Dal� Street �edestrians waIking, running or biking along tk�e s�reet. This stretch of road. is very dangerous due to the high volume of pedestrians as well as the h�gh traffic speeds. It is widely known that vehicles do not keep to the 30 mph speed. timits aiong this part of Dale Street so a sidewalk �s greatl.y needed. My l�usband, Tom, and I live at 2782 Dale 5treet Nortkt and we have two boys, ages 5& 9: There has been an influx of new farnilies with young children on Dale Street within the last couple years. Tvvo of our Da1e Street n.ext door neighbors just had new babies this year. There is also another new famil.y with three young children, atl under the a�;e oi 8 who li.ve on the corner of Dale & Ion.a. One can't help but notice the Iarge number of families with children and strollers walking along t�tis� stretch. With th�e iack of cbntrol of ve��iicles` high speeds along tliis hiil, it is imperative that a sidewalk is� put in before sori�eone gets serio�sly insured or killed? Neighborhaad resi.dents h.ave no�iced that there was a new sidewaIk recently put in on the northern part oi Dale street near Owasso Hills Driv� and �wasso Hills lake but, for whatever reason, the four block stretch betwee�n County Road C& awasso Hills Drive was nat cornp�eted during �la.is tirrie. Roseville spends a lot af money Qn Central Park bt�t more attention and money should be spent on tf�e Roseviile sidewalk situ�tion. I spoke to Deb Bloom, City Engirteer, a few months aga about the p�ssibil�ty of moving the date up to put in this much needed sidewalk along Dale Streef. I learned thai Da�e Street is supposed to be redon� in �.ve years and this stre#ch of sid.ewalk is supposed to be pt�t in at that time. Our road and this sidewalk need to be done now, not five years from now! Ms. $loom said that if I conducted a petition for this sidewalk and collected at least SO% of the residenfs signatures who live on th.is siretch of Dale Street, that there is a good passibi�ity the date cau[d be moved up to get this sidewalk put in. She admitted �ha� the rieet� for a sidewalk along .Dale Street has �een maved �up on the priority list but the Daie Street residents feel that �ve years is not fast en�ugh for those of us who live an this d�ngerous stretch of ro�d. The Gxt�zens of Dale Street are trying to be patient waiting far bofh our road to �e redone and a sic�ewalk to be completed, liut our patience is growing thin: This petifion clearly shows the desire for a sidewalk or �afhway as soan as possible.. I ha.ve oi�fained �etition signatures �ram appraxitnately $0% of the r�esidents � talked to who live o� Dale Street between County Rd C and Owasso Hills Drive, as well as ot�er nearby pedestrians who walk/run/bike along this stretcl� of road. The campletion of this sidewalk would connect the neighborhood �o the pa#hway systems i.n Central Park and Owasso Hills creating a safer and more appealing er�vir�nment for the communi .ty, A sidewalk would maice it feel like an in�itin.g comtnuniiy rather than a drive-by neighbor'hood and it would help to slow the turrZOVer rate �f homes for s�le a�.ong this stretch. The Roseville fre chief and his famiiy used to live across the street from us but moved aff of Dale Street a few years ago because af the traffic speeds and sidevvalk issues alon� this stretch of road. I tearned ihat there have been other families that have sold their hom.es along this stretch o� road for similar reasons as wel.l. This doesn't have to be so, if the City of Rosevilte reprioritizes its ta da l.ist. You know whaY you have to do. The Dale Street residents are speaking. Please listen to us.
