The City of Roseville has been selected as a <br />2007 Award Winner in the Administrative or Management Strategies category for the <br />Recreation Agreement Involving an Endowment Fund. The Recreation Agreement was <br />created to manaae Skatin� Center endowment funds and insure fund revenues are <br />used for infiended �u����� — Skating Center operations and capitalization. <br />The Recreation Agreement Involving an Endowment Fund for the Roseville Skating <br />Center was the result of a lot of hard work as well as; <br />o discussions and input by a number of interested parties — citizens, user groups, <br />Friends of the OVAL Foundation, Skating Cenier/�VA�. task force, and <br />o recommendations and direction from Roseville City Attorney, City Staff, Parks <br />and Recreation Commission, Skating Center— OVAL Advisory Committee. <br />This Recreation Agreement will serve as a model agreement for similar situations in the <br />future. The Agreement addresses short term and long term benefits for the Roseville <br />Skating Center including financial health and volunteer involvement. <br />MRPA representative, Mr. John Elholm (City of Roseville Resident and Parks Director, <br />Washington County) will be attending to present the award. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVES <br />Roseville leaders value initiative efforts from within the community. The Recreation <br />Agreement Involving an Endowment Fund is the meshing of volunteer involvement, <br />community input, user group investments and financial commitments. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the acceptance of the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association <br />Award of Excellence for the Recreation Agreement Involving an Endowment Fund in the <br />Administrative and Management Strategies category. <br />COUNCILACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion authorizing the acceptance of the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association <br />2007 Award of Excellence for Administrative or Management Strategies for the <br />Recreation Agreement Involving an Endowment Fund. <br />
