Zip:: 55113
Home Phone Number:: 651-633-6071
Daytime Phone Number:: same
Ernail Address:: dhsvz@msn.com
How would you prefer to be contacted?: Eznai
Please Share Your Comment, Question or Concern: Dear Mayor Klausing and
Council Members,
I am writing on behalf of the Board of Directors for the Roseville
Seniors at Home: A Living at HameBlock Nurse Program. Our Mission is
'To provide neighborhood-based volunteer and professional services to
elders and their family members in ways that support independent living
with dignity, safety, and choice'.
Since opening our doors in 2002,the program has recruited, trained and
placed 166 community volunteers who have provided over 4900 hours of
supportive services. In addition, since October 2005, our contractwith
Minnesota Visiting Nurses Agency has provided almost 3300 hours of
affordable home health aide and nursing services on a sliding fee scale
to over 70 Roseville elders. In FY July 2006-June 2007, the total
number of persons served was 1223 with total units of service numbering
5788. Currently, a Caregiver support group meets twice a month, with
our hope of expanding caregiver and client support through in-home and
out-of-home respite services.
As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on grant monies with
some support from state and county government. In addition to recently
losing our executive director, we are currently faced with a$20,000 to
$30,000 shortfall for this fiscal year (through June 2008). At this
point, we have no funding available for 2009 or beyond, and no one
available to write grant proposals necessary to pursue future funding.
Although we are aggressively campaigning in both the business and
individual donor sectors this fall, in reality, these donations will not
cover our budget needs.
This program is a vital resource and service for the growing number or
elders in Roseville. It serves many in a way that allows them to live
independtly and safely in their homes and postpones nursing home care in
many instances. Many of these elders cannot and will not be able to
afford assisted living care costing thousands per month.
This is a quality of life issue for our elder residents and for the
entire Roseville community. We would lil{e our governing officials to
know about us, to support the services we offer, and to promote this
program to all of Roseville in order to support our growing aging
