bC Question #48: From the Recreation Budget. .. 2008 Budget impact items —"market rate and
6 ] inflationary factors related to program offerings " Does this mean we can't charge as much as
the programs cosi, caz ve don't thinkfolks will pay that much? If not, what does it mean? This
is a reference to the fact that recreation programs are impacted by inflation in the same
 manner as other city programs. Typically we increase program fees to offset these costs;
.6 however, we also need to stay cognizant of program offerings and applicable costs in
br neighboring communities to stay competitive. Our fee-based programs do indeed recoup
. all of our direct costs and help subsidize those recreation programs which do not have
 participant fees.
i

. ]

a

7

, i 1
Question #49: From the Community Development Budget ... Where does the HRA funding
show up as an additional resource for the planning group? The HRA is a separate legal entity
with its own budget. However, if the HRA decides to contract with Community
Development Staff for assistance, any monies transferred from the ]HRA will be treated as
a revenue source in the Community Development Fund. It will not show up as a reduction
in the Community Development Budget.
Final Comments
Staff will be available at the meeting to answer any Council inquiries.
