On February 22nd,
Governor Pawlenty signed the "25 by 25" Renewable Energy Standard bill into law. I am
proud to have voted for this bill and was pleased it received such strong bipartisan
support.
The "25 by 25" Renewable Energy Standard requires energy companies to provide 25
percent of powerfrom renewable energy sources by 2025. Xcel Energy, which supplies
approximately50 percent of the electricity in the state, is required to provide 30 percent
from renewable sources by 2020. Renewable resources include wind turbines, biomass,
hydrogen and solar power. In fact, this standard will increase eight-fold the amount of
electricity that comes from renewables.
Governor Pawlenty has made renewable energy, less carbon emissions, and energy
conservation a priority. The "25 by 25" standard is a good first step. I am proud to stand
with him and support an energy policy that helps businesses, consumers, and the
environment. A forward-looking energy policy is the right thing for our children and
grandchildren.
—0--
Please direct all comments concerning issues or legislation
to your House Member or State Senator.
Click to send questions and comments regarding this site
For General nformation please call (651) 296-2146 ,(800) 657-3550 or `fTY (651) 296-9896
I.te:.ir,iti.• ; a1s Fr+a cra m m iairr}iavrcn3rpaar,=Ta ai srn^rii arri.T 7 i? 1F*T+raa •FT— f i2 1 i tiA6 '1r5i1-
