City Council Regular Meeting — O1/08/07 DRAFT Minutes - Page 4 3.b Approve Contracts/Purchases in Excess of �5,000 Councilmember Pust questioned the use of the proposed new Fire Department vehicle; whether it would be used for an on-call basis at the fire station or assigned to someone as their personal vehicle. Mr. Miller advised that the vehicle being replaced was considered excess equipment and no longer used; and that the new vehicle would be used for smaller incidents, rather than a full-service fire engine, for additional cost-savings; and would be available for use by the department, not one specific person. Councilmember Kough noted that the vehicle being sold was a 1969 model, and while intended for offer on E-bay, noted previous concerns expressed by retired firefighters desiring to bid on discontinued equipment. Mayor Klausing noted that it was the City's fiduciary role to get the best return possible on sale of excess equipment; and suggested that Councilmember Kough notify the retired firefighters of the upcoming offering of the vehicle on �- bay, to allow them to participate in the bidding process. Councilmember Kough noted that he would contact the retired firefighters as suggested.
