Since then, the Ethics Commission met twice and focused on a better understanding of their responsibilities. The Ethics Commission would like Council comment or direction on the following issues. 1. The City holds annual ethics seminars. In the past, the Commission coordinated the seminars. In Resolution 10408, Section 1, the resolution directs the City Manager to coordinate the seminars. Does the City Council want the Ethics Commission to coordinate the seminars? If so, that should be clarified pursuant to City Code Chapter 206.04, Section C. 2. The Ethics Commission has discussed creating procedures for ethics issues before they become ethics complaints. This would allow a person with a concern to follow specific procedures if questions arise about whether something is a breach of ethics. The person with questions could tall� with the City Manager or City Attorney, depending upon the individual involved, for advice and guidance. Does the Council want the Commission to develop such a process? 3. Are there other issues or direction? Council Action Reguested: Provide additional direction to the Ethics Commission, as necessary.
