When staff is notified of a potential donation, <br />they first make a determination of whether to recommend acceptance based on the suitability of the item for the <br />City. A request for authorization is then forwarded to the City Council. <br />In 2005 and 2006, the Thibodeau family graciously donated funds to t��e Roseville Police Department. The <br />Thibodeau's have offered yet another donation to benefit both the police and fire departments to purchase <br />automatic external defibrillators that are not funded in the police and fire department's operating budgets. <br />POLICY <br />The following is the City of Roseville's policy regarding the acceptance of donations: <br />• Minnesota Statute requires all donations to be officially accepted by the City Council. <br />* The staff will not solicit donations. <br />� Donors will be informed that no conditions or promises of future favorable city action on their behalf <br />may be attached to the gift. <br />• Following Council acceptance, staff will send a letter of appreciationto each donor. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Allow the police and fire departments to accept the funds donated by the Thibodeau family. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Request Council approval to accept the donation from the Thibodeau family. <br />
