Marshall: <br />You asl�ed us to provide an opinion regarding whether the City may donate unclaimed <br />bicycles to the Roseville Area High School Program. In short, the City may donate the <br />bicycles b�t donation of unclaimed property must be authorized by ordinance. <br />Facts <br />Recovered or abandoned bicycles come into the custody of the Police Department on a <br />regular basis. The Police Department rarely finds the owner of the bicycle. The bicycles are <br />either sold at auction or, if they hold no apparent value, the bicycles are discarded. Rather �k�a.�1 <br />selling or discarding the bicycles, the Police Department would : ikr to donate them to a <br />Roseville Area I-�i�h School Program. <br />Issues <br />1. May the City donate abandoned and unclaimed property? <br />2.
