My family lives on Parker Ave. and has difficulty with our
water pipes freezing in the winter weather. we have been told by the
water department to keep our water flowing during the winter months but
our water flow was inadvertently stopped and freezing occurred. My
husband had left the country Tuesday, Feb. 13th and I was completely
caught off guard when we did not have water flowing the next morning. I
left work early that day and spent the afternoon trying to unfreeze the
pipes myself.
\
On Thursday, Feb. 15t, I called the city and a gentleman by the
name of Lyle came out and inspected the pipes. He told me I would need
to contact a plumber as the pipes were frozen from the house to the
street. After having two plumbers not show for appointments on Thursday
and Friday, a third finally arrived 4:30 pm Saturday for our 9:00 am
appointment. He worked for two hours and then asked that I have the
city return and flag the outside water line as I would need a welder to
come Sunday morning. Lyle came back to our home and flagged the area
needed. On Sunday I waited all day and the plumber and the welder never
appeared. I called Lyle later in the afternoon in tears asking if he
knew of anyone I could call who would be dependable and do the work. It
had been difficult without water and I was at my wit's end. Lyle
listened to me and told me if they did not appear by Monday, Feb. 19th,
he would come! by and assist me.
At the appointed time Lyle appeared with his coworker Josh, and
began clearing my water line. By that time it had been 5 1/2 days
without water and being in our home with our minor child was becoming
increasingly difficult. Lyle was very concerned from the first contact
I made with him and was extremely professional and helpful during this
trying time.
Lyle epitomizes the city employee who is helpful, concerned and
willing to help a Roseville neighbor. I urge you to commend this fine
gentleman for the fine employee that he is. During this difficult time
I could not have asked for a more diligent person to assist me. I will
always be grateful for his help during this trying time.
Sincerely,
Denise Karamafrooz
