City Council Study Session <br />Monday, Apri116,2007 <br />Page 16 <br />1 Councilmember Pust opined that she didn't want to authorize doing <br />� repairs; and agreed that the City Council needed to prioritize all capi- <br />:� ta1 needs, and obtain a ranking from staff of those needs. <br />� <br />,� Mayor Klausing concurred, in the context of the budgeting process <br />� and setting priorities for capital improvements; however, was suppor- <br />� tive of pursuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) at this time to evaluate <br />� fire stations. <br />� <br />�� Councilmember Pust was supportive of an RFP; noting that the Coun- <br />� 1 cil may determine that there may be items of even higher priority <br />1� found beyond the fire stations. <br />� :� <br />1� <br />l� <br />1� <br />�� <br />1� <br />�� <br />�� <br />�1 <br />�� <br />�3 <br />�� <br />�5 <br />�6 <br />�� <br />�� <br />�� <br />�� <br />31 <br />�� <br />�� <br />�� <br />3� <br />�6 <br />�7 <br />�� <br />�� <br />City Manager Malinen opined that additional information was needed, <br />and consideration given to the entire Fire Department system, location <br />of facilities, and property acquisition issues, as well as an evaluation <br />of the services currently provided and projections for future provision <br />of services from a broader public safety analysis. <br />Councilmember Pust reiterated that the RFP pulled together compo- <br />nents of this project, but didn't take into consideration the overall <br />capital improvementneeds of the City and other priorities. <br />Councilmember Roe concurred with Councilmember Pust to a certain <br />degree, that no repairs should be made on Fire Station # 1 at this time; <br />but opined that he was not prepared to go out for RFP's without hav- <br />ing a better understanding of what the study would cost and what it <br />would entail, inclusive of community visioning goals and strategies, <br />and how all the pieces fit together. Councilmember Roe further <br />opined that he didn't see that there needed to be a connection between <br />the current mold situation and the overall future needs of the commu- <br />nity related to public safety concerns. <br />Mayor Klausing opined that the mold problem was prohibiting full <br />use of the facility; and ongoing delays would only continue limitations <br />for use of the facility. <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined that an RFP didn't commit the City to <br />do the study; but that it made some sense to obtain financial inform�,- <br />
