REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: January 9,2006 <br />Item No.: S.b <br />Department Approval: � Manager Approval: �' Agenda Section: Consent <br />Item Description: ACCEPTANCE OF THIBODEAI� DONATION <br />BACKGROUND <br />ln 2005, the Thibodeau family graciously donated funds to the Roseville Police Department's <br />canine program, covering the cost of a replacement canine for K-9 Cooper, set to retire in early <br />2006. <br />The Thibodeau's have offered yet another donation to the police department to cover the costs of <br />law enforcement equipment not funded in the police department's operating budget. <br />PROPOSED ACTION <br />Allow the police department to accept the funds donated by the Thibodeau family. The <br />Department plans to utilize these funds to cover the costs of law enforcement equipment not <br />funded in the police department's operating budget. The equipment would include such items as: <br />Stinger flashlights for all officers, binoculars for all squads, three laptop computers, a radar unit, a <br />video camera, and a ballistic shield. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br />Not applicable. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Allow the police department to accept the funds donated by the Thibodeau family. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Request Council approval to accept the donation from the Thibodeau family. <br />
