City Councii Reg�iar Meeting — 41/09/46 <br />DRAFT Minates - Page 21 <br />Councilmember Ihlan spoke in support of s�ra.tegic and budget <br />planning and discussions on eommunity planning; and opined <br />that the City Counc�l shauld launch into thai p�anning <br />immediately. <br />Councilmember Pust clarifed �hat she was not suggesting a <br />waste af public resources, but ihat there were qualified experts at <br />Iittle or no cost, that would be avaiiab�e io fill in the niches for <br />communication and pxoeess that we�e apparent. <br />Mayor Klausing noted that everyone was a taxpaye�- and sought <br />to dis�inguish between the use of General L�vy �unds and <br />Communication Fund dollars available. <br />Counci�member �hlan opined that individual Councilmembers <br />wou�d be speak�ng to di�£erent constituenc�es and they would <br />still be zealous advocates for those positions; but recognized the <br />need %r the Council to work together betier as a body. <br />Counc��znemb�r N�aschka opined that the Ci�y Council was, in <br />e�fect, running a business; and there were circumstances where <br />yau got what you paid for in terms o�' qualifi�d eonsultan� <br />se�-vices. <br />Kiausing moved, Maschka seconc�ed, directing staff to re�urn <br />with additionak in�'ormation :regaz�ding a possible consultant- <br />�ae�li�ated City Counci� goal se�tfng and stra�egzc p�annzng <br />session; �nd fiz�rthear in�ormatzon regarding proposed options <br />ic�entif ed under I�em 3 0� the Requesi for Couneil Ac�ion da�ed <br />Tanuazy 9, 2�(i6. <br />Mayor Klausing directecl s�a�� to concentraie on cost-e��ective <br />aptions and invest�ga�e pxevious suggest�ons from <br />Councilmember Ihlan far possible facilitaiors available gratis or <br />at a reduced cast. <br />Rc�ll CaII <br />Ayes: Pust; Maschka; Kough; �hlan and K�ausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />12.
