Claim #9: Mr. Klausing raises the issue that members can place items on the
agenda consecutive times, despite the council having addressed the item
previously.
Correction #9: It was Mr. Klausing who started this practice in 2002. On a 3-2
vote, he got permission from the council to submit items for the agenda,
regardless of how many times they had been previously voted down.
Claim f: Mr. Klausing claims that council and staff do not have enough time
to examine items under the current process.
Correction #": Council and staff have no responsibilityto examine items that
council members place on the agenda. The responsibility for presenting
supporting information on a council initiated agenda item rests fully with the
council member. It defies common sense to examine an item which lacks
significant support. It defies common sense to spend staff resources on an item
which lacks significant support. When the item comes before the council,
members can discuss the issue, table it for more information, or permanently
table it.
._.- , . .. . . , . .... .
