City Council Regular Meeting — 03/13/06 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 17 <br />with options and potential direct costs (excluding direct or Meetings <br />indirect staff time costs) for specific notice and media <br />options. <br />Discussion included Council preference for a general <br />statement for the invitation (i.e., inviting citizens to share <br />their priorities with the City Council for budget and <br />priority issues); and preference for a separate press release <br />focusing on the Town Hall meeting. <br />City Manager Beets outlined staffs intent to include an <br />article in the "News Fax" as a press release and dedicated <br />to the Town Hall forums; link on the City's website; <br />screen notice on Channel 16; posting at City Hall; <br />announcements at public meetings; advertisement for the <br />May Town Hall meeting in the C�i�r News newsletter; and <br />printing flyers for distribution by neighborhood block <br />watch captains. <br />Councilmember Pust opined that flyers sent to school <br />students were not useful, as parents were inundated with <br />backpack materials. Councilmember Pust encouraged <br />each Councilmember to take on the responsibility, through <br />flyers or verbal communication, with other organizations <br />and agencies they were involved with, to spread the word. <br />Public Comment <br />John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street <br />Mr. Kysylyczyn noted the his estimated cost of $50 per <br />person for past Town Hall meetings, and opined that even <br />with extensive advertising in the past, it still produced <br />poor results. <br />After discussion, City Manager Beets was directed to use <br />the following methods for public notice, as outlined in the <br />Staff Report dated March 13, 2006 and entitled, <br />"Community Meetings." <br />Articles in the News Fax <br />Notice on the City's website <br />Notices on Channel 16 <br />■ City Bulletin Board Posting <br />
