City Council Regular Meeting — OS/08/06 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 11 <br />meetings; and funding of the educational series as <br />approved in the 2006 Community Development <br />Professional Services budget. <br />Councilmember Ihlan spoke against the motion; and <br />questioned how much total had been spent on Mr. <br />Shardlow's firm to-date. <br />City Manager Beets noted that approximately $6,000 to- <br />date; and this would be in addition to that, estimated at <br />$2,000; and whether this was the fmal presentation would <br />need to be determinedby the Planning Commission. <br />Klausing moved, �Saschl�a seconded, approval of <br />Workshop #4 for presentation to the Commission on July <br />5, 2006, with $2,000 (partial funding) for research and <br />presentations from Roseville's Community Development <br />Department Professional Service, line item as well as <br />continued pro-bono support and contributions from DSU. <br />Councilmember Ihlan reiterated her opposition to the <br />motion; opining that Mr. �hard�ow was not a"neutral" <br />participant; had represented specific clients; and favored a <br />vision based on more commercial and retail development <br />within the community. Councilmember Ihlan further <br />opined that, if the Council were going to consider hiring <br />Mr. Shardlow, they should also request alternative <br />consultants; and opined that this was the Planning <br />Commission, rather than the City Council, spending <br />taxpayer monies. <br />Councilmember Pust spoke in support of the motion, <br />opining that past presentations had served as excellent <br />investments of education information compiled by staff <br />and consultants; and would serve as an invaluable resource <br />in moving forward as a community, along with the <br />community visioning process. <br />Councilmember Kough spoke in opposition to the motion; <br />opining that with a steering committee in place, all <br />committees should be involved (Housing & <br />
