City Council Regular Meeting— OS/08/06 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 14 <br />Nays: None. <br />S.b Proclamation Declaring May 2006 as Asian Pacific <br />Heritage Month <br />City Manager Beets summarized the proclamation <br />designating May of 2006 as Asian Pacific American <br />Heritage Month in the City of Roseville. Mr. Beets noted <br />that current demographics estimate the Asian population <br />in Roseville to be 5% of the total population; the largest <br />single minority group, and expressed the community's <br />appreciation for their contributions to the community and <br />society. <br />Klausing moved, Kough seconded, proclaiming May of <br />2006 as Asian Pacif'ic American Heritage Month in the <br />City of Roseville. <br />Councilmember Pust noted the appropriate and beneficial <br />language of the proclamation, and read a portion: <br />"WHEREAS, Diversity represents one of our greatest <br />strengths, and we must strive to ensure that all Americans <br />have the opportunity to reach their full potential. By <br />recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of <br />Asian Pacific Americans, Roseville celebrates the <br />importance of inclusion in building a brighter future for all <br />our citizens." <br />Roll Ca�� <br />Ayes: Pust; Maschlca; Ihlan; Kough and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />6. Consider Amendments to the Nuisance Abatement <br />Ordinance <br />Code Enforcement staff, Don Munson and Rick Talbot, along <br />with City Attorney Scott Anderson, initiated discussion and <br />provided bacicground for this request for proposed language <br />changes to the City's public nuisance code related to graffiti and <br />dead vegetative matter; and reducing the number of required <br />Council public hearings necessary to approve an abatement. <br />Discussion included past practice and uses of the nuisance <br />ordinance; the three revisions proposed; and suggested language. <br />Proclamation of <br />May 2006 as Asian <br />Pac��c Heritage <br />Month <br />Amendments to the <br />Nuisance <br />Abatement <br />Ordinance <br />
