City Council Study Session— OS/15/06 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 11 <br />encouraged Councilmembers to make contact with staff <br />with their proposed agenda topics for the joint meetings. <br />City Manager Beets further noted that he would rearrange <br />the proposed Human Rights and Housing � <br />Redevelopment Authority (HRA) meetings, as requested <br />by Councilmember Kough, to accommodate his <br />attendance at the I�RAICity Council joint meeting <br />(tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 20, the H�.A's <br />regular meeting day); with the Planning commission <br />scheduled for the City Council's June 12, 2006 meeting; <br />the Parks & Recreation Commission scheduled for July <br />10; the Public Works, Environment and Transportation <br />Commission scheduled for July 17; the Civil Service <br />Commission scheduled for July 24; and the Human Rights <br />Commission scheduled on August 14. <br />Staff was directed to provide posted notice of the Special <br />Council meeting on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 and canceling <br />the regular business meeting on Monday, June 19, 2006, to <br />facilitate individual Council schedules and ensure a <br />quorum. <br />City Manager Beets addressed ways to strengthen Council <br />staff-relationships, including; the team-building exercise <br />recently held with Consultant Barbara Raye; more <br />frec�u�nt meetings between City Manager and Department <br />Heads and individual Councilmembers, at Council <br />direction. <br />Councilmember Kough liked his current practice of <br />scheduling every Wednesday at City Hall, with <br />opportunities to talk to staff as needed. <br />Mayor Klausing noted that the existing practice didn't <br />appear to be working, and opined there was greater value <br />in having a set meeting time. <br />Councilmember Maschka opined his preference for an <br />annual meeting, similar to that with Barbara Raye, and his <br />being amenable to meeting on a semi-annual basis. <br />
