2007 Budget Process <br />Within the 4/24/06 Council discussion on the budget process, the following areas of emphasis <br />were identified: <br />1) Less emphasis on formal staff presentations <br />2) More emphasis on spending targets, priorities, initiatives <br />3) More emphasis on budget control and policies <br />4) Budget submittals focused on program-level detail <br />5) Updates on school district spending decisions <br />6) Update on whether the CPI or price of government index is a more appropriate benchmark <br />Each of these areas of emphasis will be incorporated into the budget process. Absent further <br />Council direction, we will schedule future budget discussions accordingly. <br />Final Comments <br />Staff will be available at the meeting to answer any questions. <br />
