City Council Regular Meeting — 07110/OG <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 11 <br />commissions in obtaining a sense of the community from a <br />more structured and focused environment. <br />Councilmember Maschka noted that, if a decision was <br />made to move forward with the concept of a community <br />center, the role of the Commission would be more defined <br />and their input would be tremendous. <br />Councilmember Pust encouraged the Commissioners to <br />become involved at the Community Visioning Sub- <br />committee level and encouraged them to consider mal�ing <br />the community center one of the topic areas for community <br />discussion. <br />Discussion included whether or business models for the <br />Parks and Recreation Department, involvement of other <br />communities in a potential community center mal�ing it <br />more area-wide, cost benefit analyses, collaboration efforts, <br />and limited tax revenues. <br />2.f Annual Parks and R�erea�ivnlCi�� Council meeting and <br />what time of year makes the most sense to meet? <br />Councilmember Pust opined that twice yearly would be <br />useful. <br />Discussion included the Council's need to meet with all <br />advisory commissions and the time consuming nature of <br />their community service on the City Council and balancing <br />family and worlc. <br />Commissioner Pederson encouraged Councilmembers to sit <br />in at Commission meetings when they were a�az�ab�e and <br />critique the Commissioners and noted the great community <br />input received through the "Discover Your Parlcs" events, <br />the loyal volunteers serving the parlc and pathway system <br />and personally thanlced the City Council for allowing this <br />joint brainstorming session. <br />Chair Jacobson opined that it may prove beneficial for the <br />City Council and Commission to meet jointly once during <br />the summer and prior to the Commission's annual January <br />
