City Council Regular Meeting— 08/28/06 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 13 <br />Public Comment <br />Written comments, via Bench Handout, were made available at <br />the meeting and related to this proposal: 1) from Mike and Rose <br />4'Rourke, 3061 Hamline Avenue N, dated July 31,2006; and 2) <br />from Robert Willmus, Robert Willmus Homes, 2932 Hamlin� <br />Avenue N, dated July 30, 2006; both attached hereto and made a <br />part thereof. <br />Mayor Klausing noted that, while the formal Public Hearing had <br />been held at the Planning Commission level, he was inviting <br />additional public comment at this time. <br />Bob Willmus, 2932 Hamline <br />Mr. Willmus opined that the developer could make the lots wider <br />and keep the development all single-family homes and raise the <br />price points; further opining that step up, higher-end housing was <br />another need in the community, to keep residents from moving to <br />other suburbs. <br />Mayor Klausing noted that other public opinion received opined <br />that selling prices of $250,000 or higher were excessive in that <br />neighborhood. <br />Mr. Willmus reiterated his opinion, urging the City Council to <br />vote against a change to the City's Comprehensive Plan, and <br />encourage the developer to return with another proposal for <br />single family homes, and make grant application in April of <br />2007. <br />Mayor Klausing reminded that the current proposal was for five <br />town home units, not requiring a change to the Comprehensive <br />Plan. <br />George Bednar, 2940 I-�amline Avenue N <br />Mr. Bednar opined that this parcel was an ideal spot for a <br />professional office complex, with sufficient landscaping, to <br />accommodate the future development of the Hamline Shopping <br />Center and anticipated senior citizen demographics in that area. <br />
