REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 10/23/2006 <br />Item No: 8. <br />Department Approval: <br />�� � �� <br />Manager <br />�� <br />Agenda Section: <br />Consent Agenda <br />Item Description: Adopting a Resolution to Support Applications for Environmental <br />Cleanup Grants on Behalf of the Mounds View School District <br />Background <br />At the September 11, 2006 City Council meeting the Council approved a preliminary plat, <br />rezoning, and general concept planned unit development for the property located at 2959 <br />HamZine Avenue. This site was formerly occupied by the Mounds View Schools District offices, <br />and is known to have soil and groundwater contamination. During this meeting, representatives <br />from the Mounds View School District advised the Council that they would be seeking City <br />assistance in applying for environmental cleanup grants. <br />Attached to this memo is a resolution asl�ing the City of Roseville to act as the legal sponsor for <br />the purposes of submitting grant applications to the following agencies: <br />C� MN Department of Employment and Economic Development <br />I� Raz�sey County <br />� Metropolitan Council <br />Copies of the grant application materials are attached. <br />Discussion Items <br />The Final version of the grant application materials will be reviewed by City Staff and the City <br />Attorney. This process of serving as a legal sponsor is similar to the support the City recently <br />lent to Central Community Housing Trust for renovations to the �€�r Mar Apartments. <br />Representatives from the Mounds View School District will be in attendance to discuss their <br />request in greater detail. <br />Attachments <br />O AttachmentA - Resolution <br />C� Attachment B— Application to DEED <br />C!
