� <br />We believe that the area described in our Petition is unique within the City. It <br />consists of typically large lot sizes, some in excess of 4 acres. This area is heavily <br />wooded, and includes several natural ponds. Because of this environment, there is an <br />abundance of wildlife, including: hawks, wild turkeys, des�. ducks, geese, raccoons, etc. <br />This natural environment is beneficial both to the neighborhood and the City. <br />The quantity and diversity of trees and other plant life in this area provides h�bitat for <br />wildlife, retention of rainfall preventing flooding, absorption of carbon dioxide, and an <br />energy savings effect through the cooling of homes. <br />The existence of wildlife provides educational experiences for children and adults <br />alike, and is a general benefit to the entire City. <br />Because of the large lot sizes in this area, there has been a recent surge in <br />subdividing and platting of parcels.
