Special City Council Meeting-10131/06 DRAFT Minutes ' Page 8 Mayor Klausing questioned the ability for the Council to schedule a meeting and allow time for discussion at that time, given the scheduled activities around the interview process. Additional discussion included possible meeting times for discussion; number of candidates to test; and adequate notice to testing firms; efficiencies of testing for candidates. After further discussion, Councilmember Maschka opined his support for testing all six candidates. Ms. Bacon advised that, if the Council consensus was to test all candidates, she would coordinate testing around their interview schedules on Thursday and Friday, November 16 and 17. Councilmember Ihlan opined her lack of support, in principle, for testing all six candidates, and advised that she would not support a motion to do so. Councilmember Pust opined that it made more sense to only test those candidates making the top two; however, recognized the logistical issues. Additional discussion ensued regarding number of candidates to test; timing for testing; potential meeting times for additional Council discussion following interviews; input from internal and external interview panels; previous practice for City Manager vacancy. Ms. Bacon reviewed the previous process for the last City Manager vacancy, and the internallexternal panels' list of pros and cons for each candidate as compiled; with Ms. Bacon suggesting that she could provide a summary of those comments for all Councilmembers the following Monday and any clear recommendations from the panels, for additional information for Council review and consideration. Mayor Klausing suggested adhering to the proposed schedule outlined by Ms. Bacon, with additional City Council discussion the following Monday, November 20, and an ultimate decision at
