Agenda Section Hearings Background Staff is in the process of renewing all liquor licenses for the year 2007. The licenses to be renewed include, nine (9) Off Sale Intoxicating (maximum of 10 allowedby City ordinance), twenty-four(24) On Sale Intoxicating, four (4) Club, eight (8) Wine, fifteen (15) On Sale 3.2 Non-IntoxicatingMalt Liquor, and nine (9) Off Sale 3.2 Non-IntoxicatingMalt Liquar (City ordinance or state statute do not limit the number of the last five types of licenses). The Police Chief has reviewed the records, and finds no reasons for denial of the licenses. The City Attorneywill review the applications prior to the issuance of licenses to ensure they are in order. Generally speaking, City Staff recommends approval of all liquor license renewals as long as the establishment remains in good standing with the community and adj acent neighborhood and have demonstrateda commitmentto ensuring the proper sale of alcohol. During the past 12 months, we have not observed any failed compliance checks or alcohol-relatedoffenses that would give causeto deny the license for any existing establishment. With regard to off-sale (liquor stores) licenses, it is noted that the City has 10 existing license holders. However, RosevilleProperties has not appliedforrenewal. BeginningJanuary 1,2007, the City will have one remaining off-sale license. Financial Implications The revenue that is generated from the license fees collected is used to offset the cost of police compliance checks, background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and license administration. Council Action Motion approving the renewal of the following liquor licenses for the calendaryear 2007 with the condition that all required application items be submitted before the licenses may be issued.
