REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department ApprovaL Manager Approved: <br />Item Description: <br />Selection of Next City Manager <br />Back�round: <br />Date: 11/28/06 <br />Item #: 1 <br />Council has been provided a variety of information throughout the last several months for <br />consideration in the deliberations for the next City Manager. <br />The time has come to make the final selection and a contingency selection. <br />Policv and Financial Implications: <br />The City Manager is a contracted position. Employment terms need to be drafted and negotiated <br />with whomever Council selects as the next City Manager. While general guidelines and statute <br />requirements will be utilized, the contract will be drafted according to the needs of City Council and <br />the candidate being offer the position. <br />Council Action Requested <br />L Motion selecting the next City Manager and a contingent candidate. <br />2. Motion specifying terms of employment contract. <br />3. Motion directing staff and City Attorney to draft the employment contract. <br />4. Motion authorizing Human Resources to extend the identical offer to the contingent <br />candidate if the offer to the first choice candidate is refused. <br />5. Motion to recess until 11/29 at 4pm to allow for further negotiations, if necessary. <br />
