Project
Dear Commission Member:
Our next grant deadline for the Local Human Rights Commissions Project, which funds up to $1,500 to
develop a local commission's capacity building project or implement a civic engagement project, is
September 30, 2009.
We have attached the updated grant guidelines with examples of types of projects that would qualify as
civic engagement activities. In addition, remember that grant funds are still available for customized
trainings and attending educational events that build a local commission's capacity. There is no
requirement to complete a capacity building project prior to a civic engagement project or vice versa.
However, we do recommend you align your civic engagement activities with your commission's mission
and active work/strategic plan.
Please contact me at 651.297.5091 or mario.hernandez@state.mn.us if you have any questions
regarding the grant application process.
We look forward to reviewing creative proposals to engage community in your work.
Sincerely,
/~ar~r~ ~ {>~~r~xaarc(rz
Mario A.
