City Council Regular Meeting — O1/31/05 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 27 <br />trail, with no plans anticipated. <br />Anne Elias, Applicant (north side property owner) <br />Ms. Elias requested clarification of the process, should the City <br />ever consider construction of a trail and whether the <br />neighborhood would have a voice. <br />City Planner Paschke reviewed the process, assuring Ms. Elias of <br />the involvement of the neighborhood throughout the process. <br />Roll Call [7.6] <br />Ayes: Maschka, Kough, Schroeder, Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />Mayor Klausing thanked the applicants for their patience. <br />7. Consider the Request by Super 8 Hotel, 2401 Prior Avenue, <br />to Use a New Exterior Siding Material (Vinyl Lap "Siding) <br />Not Listed in the City Commercial Design Standards <br />Community Development Director Dennis Welsch noted that, <br />under City Code, Section 1010.02G, the City Council was asked <br />to make the decision as to whether the material proposed was <br />appropriate, as it was not included in the list of approved <br />materials for which staff could make a determination. <br />Mr. Welsch noted that the building's exterior was deteriorating <br />and that some portions of the exterior were already coated with <br />vinyl siding, which was prior to the adoption of the City's <br />commercial design standards added to he Code in 1991. Mr. <br />Welsch advised that staff was recommending approval. <br />Brief discussion took place regarding the proposed material; and <br />one-time use application for this request. <br />[4.0] <br />Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, based on City Code <br />Section 1010.02G, approval of the request by Sundance Lodging, <br />Inc., to replace wood and timber siding on the Super 8 Hotel at <br />2401 Prior Avenue with a high-quality commercial grade lap <br />siding similar in color and scale to existing siding used on the <br />pool and lobby building." <br />Super 8 Hotel, <br />2401 Prior Ave <br />Exterior Siding <br />Material (Vinyl <br />Lap "Siding) Not <br />Listed in the City <br />Commercial Design <br />Standards <br />
