To continue
realizing the value of citizen input achieved in prior years, new measures to gauge the public's
interests must be utilized.
Available Information Tools
There are a number of sources that can
Some of the more common tools include:
 General feedback
J Calllogs
 Commissions l Task Force
C7 Targeted Q & A
Ll Town Hall meetings
be used to gather information on the public's interests.
❑ Community survey
❑ Focus groups
❑ Wrap/Web/feedback foz'nrs/direct mailings
❑ Council zneetings/study sessions
Over the past year Staff has been evaluating the effectiveness of the current information sources
being utilized. What has emerged from these discussions is that a void exists with the Citv's
abilitv to measure a collective and reresentative oinion on the tyes of services that are in
demand, as well as the ublic's willingness to av for those services. Also lacking is the abilitv
to gau e the public's interest in new ventures or oortunities.
Based upon this evaluation, Staff has concluded that a community survey will best meet the void
that exists.
