�'. € �� <br />1NTERIM USE PERMIT APPLICATION NARRATIVE <br />Shafer Contracting Co., Inc. requests interim use approval from the City of Roseville to use the <br />vacant property on the south side of Terminal Road between Walnut Street and St. Croix Street as a <br />staging yard for the reconstruction of County Road C between Long Lake Road and Snelling Avenue. <br />�� H�ck�round <br />Shafer Contracting Co., Inc. of Shafer, Minnesota has a contract with Ramsey County to reconstruct <br />County Road C in Roseville between Long Lake Road and Snelling Avenue. <br />While preliminary work was begun in the late summer of Z004, the major reconstruction effort will <br />occur during the 2005 construction season with final completion scheduled for August 15,2006. <br />The project requires multiple staged construction, including removal of the existing surface, for a <br />new concrete paved County Road C. <br />Ramsey County has specified that the aggregate base, below the new pavement, be a product made <br />from recycling existingpavements. <br />Interim Use Reauest <br />Shafer Contracting Co., Inc, has signed a lease with Meritex Enterprises, Inc. to utilize as a staging <br />yard, the vacant property on the south side of Terminal Road between Walnut Street and St. Croix <br />Street. The site is approximatelyone-halfmile south of County Road C and one-halfmile west of <br />Long Lake Road. <br />The interim use is requested for the period April 1,2005 through completion of the project—August <br />15,2006. The lease with Me�i#ex expires on November 30,2005. However, we are requesting that <br />the interim use approval run until August 15,2006 to allow extension of the lease in the event that <br />2005 constructionis delayed by events beyond our control (i.e., acts of God, strike, weather, material <br />shortages, or other construction delays beyond our control). <br />The site would be used in the following manner: <br />Pavements removed from the project would be hauled to the staging yard and stockpiled for <br />recycling. <br />. Portable recycling equipment would be brought to the site to process the pavement into <br />Minnesota Department of Transportation specification gravel base.
