REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: 03/28/OS <br />ITEM NO: 3.f <br />Department ApprovaL Manager Approved: Agenda Section: <br />DW (.I�Nt Consent <br />Item Description: Annual appointment of Planning Commission members to the <br />Variance Board <br />1.0 REQUESTED ACTION <br />The Council by motion annually appoints members of the Planning Commission to the <br />Variance Board. <br />2.0 City Code - Planning Commission Variance Board Appointment. <br />Section 1014.04$ of the City Code provides far the appointment of the Planning Commission <br />Variance Board by the City Council from among the members of the Commission. <br />The Variance Board held hearings and decided on fourteen cases in 2004. There were no appeals <br />of their decisions. <br />3.0 Variance Board By-Laws regarding members <br />From the Variance Board By-Laws (91110�}, <br />Pursuant to Ordinance 1301 (adopted by the Roseville City Council on February 9, <br />2004). the Roseville City Code, Title 10, Sections 1014. Subsection1014. 04 were amended by <br />revising language regarding the designation and operation ofthe City ofRoseville Board of <br />Adjustment andAppeals to allowfor more effzcient use of the Planning Commission and City <br />Council meetings andproviding more specific review of land use variances, by creating a <br />Tlariance Board and designating three rnenibers ofthe Planning Commission to serve as such <br />Board. <br />The City Council s1�alC annually designaie three nrembers d the Planning Commission to act as <br />the TlarianceBoardpursuanttoMinnesota Statutes Chapter462. Request,sfor variances shall be <br />processed by the communiry developmentdirector or designee in accordance with theprovisions � <br />chapter1013 � this title or other relevantsection � this code andMinnesota Statutes 15.99. <br />
