March 2, 2005
Roseille City Hall
260 Ciic Center Drive
Rosevi[le, MN 55113
Dear Tom Kough,
I had been planing on attending te city mee#ing for the adysipper par[c dvloprrent
howeer, i ended up watcEing it on cab(e.
I grew up as a kid in a house on Farringtan Court which is locatecf on te pond edge. 1
remember the city putting in the canal and all of us kids in the reigforhad floating
rubber raft boats in it. Yes 1 do agree, it is a beautiu[ nature area.
I do lice the plans tat were presented for .ady sipper park with ane exception, the
fishing pier, The idea of a pier is fine, however to allaw fishing here, and aetually to
promote it I do not like what it will bring.
The raii road trestl that is ocated on the opposite side of the ponc also use ta be a
beautiful place to walk down to, Then at some point in time, this changed. This railroad
trestle was listed in a book that came out pr4matirg it as one of the best shoreline
fishing spo#s r the metra area.
This rougfi in car Ioads of peopEe. They send all day at the trestle until iae at night.
Instead of putting tle smal[ fish back in the water tfey are thrown on shore which
makes both an urpleasant sie and smell. The Trash is also thrown out of their cars
where they park so they did not have to bring it with them. The raiiroad trestfe looks
more like a garbage dump now. This is truly a shame since it was flnce a unique, clean
pface to enjoy walking ta.
Te Fause that I now live in is right by the place that all these people park their cars.
This is located at the corner of South Owasso by the rail road #racks. E can tell you that
afong with the fishing large amourts of beer is drak, and it even is a little scary
because their cars are still parked there un#il we[I after dark. f often clean the trash up in
this area and once founc (4) syringes laying an the ground. The people who come here
#o fish, do not appear o be ery nice. No one feels safe to go walking to the trestle
anymore.
This issue had bee brought up at the March 1,2005 meeting by Scott Higbee,
howeer LQnne Brokke, quickly assured fiat it would nat be a profem and this issue
was not brought up again. Please walk down to this trestle in the summer and see for
yourseives.
