The park is classified as an Urban Park in the
City'spark classification system. An Urban Park is defined as a large open
space and active park that offers varied natural features and includes a wide
range of recreational activities.
Projects that have been completed and are consistent with the Master Plan
include:
* 1 112 miles of hard surfaced trail
* Conversion ofyouth fields fromjust baseball to girl's fastpitch
and youth baseball and upgrade of soccer field
* Additional play equipment
* Converting County Rd. C2 from vehicular to pedestrian traffic
* Land acquisition
* 2 picnic table shelters
* Fishing pier
* Benches
* Landscaping
* Turf irrigation system
The goal othe Master Plan is to complete the trail all the way around the
lake as well as provide an entrance into the park from Cleveland Avenue on
the north side of the park. Several properties surrounding the lake have
already been purchased to accomplishthis end. Other properties that are
identified in the Master Plan are considered as they come up for sale.
If you have any further questions, please let me know.
