From such <br />projects as cleaning area parks, bringing sight to the blind, providing diabetes awareness <br />and developing youth programs, Lions Clubs are committed to building a brighter future <br />for ���eir community; and <br />Whereas: Today with more than 135 million members in 46,000 clubs in 193 countries, Lions <br />have expanded their focus to meet the ever-increasingneeds of our global community; <br />and <br />Whereas: The RosevilleLions Club was chartered in May 1955; and <br />Whereas: The Roseville Lions Club was sponsored by the St. Paul Midway Club and the Roseville <br />Lions sponsored the North Suburban Evening Club, North Suburban Blind Club, North <br />Rice Lions and co-sponsoredthe St. Anthony Lions; and <br />Whereas: The Roseville Lions annually contribute to such groups as the Minnesota Lions Eye <br />Bank and Children's Eye Clinic, American Field Service, Youth Exchange programs, <br />Hearing Center Building Fund at the U of M, YMCA and the Hearing Dog Program; <br />and <br />Whereas: The Roseville Lions support Camp Courage and other Lions Camps, Youth Bicycle <br />Safety Programs, Youth Outreac%/Quest Drug Awareness and prevention programs; and <br />Whereas: The Roseville Lions Club financed the original Roseville Central Park Pavilion and <br />helped develop Central Park by planting trees and flowers and installing playground <br />equipment, electricity and park benches. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the City Council of the City of Rosevzlle congratulates the <br />Roseville Lions Club on its SQth anniversaryand does herebyproclaim June 9 to be Lions Club Day in <br />the City of Roseville. <br />In Witness Whereof..
