There is no measurable difference in efficieicy between a plate and frate type chiller
system and the existing shell and tube type chiller system.
The advantages of a plate and fraEe type cliller system are as follows
I, Reduttda7cy. If there are problerns with one plate and frame system there will be a
second system far partial backup. However, since each plate and frame system would be
sized far 50% of the total capacity the system would only be capable of operating an one
plate and frame system during tle colder days of the year.
2. Less Space Requiret The plate and frame systeins are mare compact and generally take
up less room than a shell and tube type chiller system. The size of each plate and frame
package is approximately 12' x 5' wide. With this option the existing high pressure
starage receiver would be replaced with a vertical receiver located 'm the corner of the
mechanical room.
