5. Replace the existing shell ad ttr6e type system with a plate rrrrrarc i ti'+. This option
would replace re-tubing the existing chiller. A plate and frame type systcm with titanium
plates would improve the durability of the system Fror a materials standpoint and would add
redundancy to the refrigeration since two chiller systems would he installed. However, it
comes with a cost. The plate and frame system is much more expensive and will likely not
improve 11: overall efficiency of the refrigeration system by a noticeable amount. This
option is not recommended due to the cost.
The total cost of this project is estimated to be: $600,900
6. Paint the piping foatd from 1r' evaporativecondenser. This should be an on-going
maintenance item.
The total cost of this project is estimated to be:
7. Consider the following additional alternate bids to he base bid project.
$1,000
A. Add start up services. Because an experienced ice rink contractor will already be on-site
it is recommended that the contractor also be responsible for performing the start up of
the system after the repairs are complete and to perform any routine maintenance on the
system {e.g. compressor oil change, etc.). _
B. Infrared Sensor. Adding an infrared sensar to sense the surface temperature of the ice
sheet may provide better control far the refrigeration system. It is recommended that this
be evaluated during the design process.
