r
' tP,,y j. }
_ a.  .
i
"., 3--r...r.r'
Proposed Amendment for Dangerous Animals Ordinance -- #3
Amy Iha.
I move to delete 501. 6(A)(2) (definition of "otentially dangerous animal") and
S 01.16{C} (registration of "potentially dangerous animals") and to remove all other
references to "potentially dangerous animals" from the ordinance.
All animals are currently required to be restrained; licensed, and vaccinated under our
existing ordinances. The proposednew provisions for "declaration and registration of
potentially dangerous animals" do not add anything to these requirements, other than the
possibility of requiring obedience classes.
I think the city should focus the attention of this Ordinance on controlling danerous
animals, and continue to enforce existing leash, license and vaccination laws for all other
animals. If, after some experience, this scheme turns out to be inadequate, the Council
could reconsider the "potentially dangerous" classification or other kinds of regulations
as appropriate.
