ATTACHMENT 16 Online Petition To: Governor Tim Pawlenty and Minnesota State Legislature As you are probably well aware of by now, through virtue of various ��e�vspaper reports, emails, and letters from many of our winter sport families, the needed repairs to the John Rose Minnesota OVAL are of utmost urgency and importance to our involved youth. We as winter sports enthusiasts ask you to please help provide State funding for the needed repairs. The OVAL is an important part of the winter recreation activities in the Twin Cities and Minnesota. Not only speedskating programs benefit from this facility but also hockey, bandy, figure skating and public skaters use the Oval during the fall and winter season for training, competition, and casual recreation. Many hundreds, if not thousands of kids depend on the use of the OVAL for much of their winter sports activities. The OVAL has been and should continue to be a winter gathering place for the youth of the Metro area and site for weekend state, national, and international level competitions. Please help make next winter another memorable season of ice sports for our young people by providing funding so the OVAL can open on schedule next November. We know that you understand the importance the Oval has in our community, but the facility truly impacts the State of Minnesota when it hosts National and International — competitions such as the Junior World Speedskating Championships, which Governor — Pawlenty attended last year. We the following citizens wish to therefore express in this — written affirmation, our support for your decision to provide Minnesota State funding for — the needed OVAL repairs.
