Notes from Flip Chart <br />Multi-Family Housing Dialogue — May 5,2005 <br />Roseville H�A Neighborhood Dialogues <br />Self-Introductions—name, issues and/or questions for discussion <br />- Inspection of homes that are to be rented? <br />- What is rate of occupancy? <br />- What are parking requirements? <br />- Developments are not attending to reasonable parking needs. <br />- Projected increase in housing units might harm small independent <br />owners. <br />- Public looks at renters as "different" from home o�vvilers�residents - <br />community services, costs and city policy - <br />- Renters not a complaint of city administration (C. Bennett) <br />- Concern re: costs of license programs esp. re: soft market. <br />- Mal�e sure more consistent view - do not single out "rental" � sometimes <br />treated too differently. <br />- Signage ordinance is problem - not able to put out signs to rent units, but <br />yard sale�reality signs are okay. <br />- Have not seen a market as soft since "80 s <br />- Second, the sign issue. <br />- Third, the sign issue. <br />� Would like the parking lot monitored more 1.� have access to police reports <br />re: residents should to be a proactive partner with police. <br />- Distribute info about crime-free multi-family group together. <br />- Concern about costs if new inspection requirements are started. <br />- Police won't give on-site mgrs info - wit info could help. <br />- People not keeping up t11�a,z property other rental property owners not <br />doing necessary maintenance - i..e. painting; driveway repair. <br />What are ideas and solutions to resolve the issues that were raised? <br />�- Re: soft market - Twin �aF<es adding 700 units; density can become <br />problem - traffic, parking, of people; a good example is the small office <br />buildings at �'airvieGV �- D- more office workers f��ai� parking spots. <br />, What is the "density"- % per acre of the redevelopment on t�1e Apache <br />PJaza site? <br />- Other comrn-u12i�ies have sheet parking w/o problems -j ust "accept" <br />- Parking issues are universal. <br />- Better conununication (education) - City could facilitate conversation that <br />would address most issues. <br />- Don't create new zedundai�t sysfein - issue is probably education <br />� Reinvigorate the Multi-family Housing Coalition. <br />
