City Council Regular Meeting — 08/08/OS <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 12 <br />Mr. Brokke encouraged those interested in getting <br />involved in the Foundation, or with the Oval to contact <br />him at City Hall at 651-792-7107. <br />Kough moved, Maschka seconded, authorization accepting <br />donation by Univar Inc. and Dow Chemical of 22,000 <br />gallons of Calcium Chloride (brine), in the amount valued <br />at $25,521, for the John Rose Minnesota OVAL. <br />Roll C all <br />Ayes: Ihlan; Schroeder; Kough; Maschka and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />S.b Golden K Kiwanis Peanut Day Proclamation <br />City Manager Beets reviewed a sampling of community- <br />based charitable service activities of the Kiwanis Club of <br />North Suburban Golden K, St. Paul, in addition to <br />providing financial aid, particularly those supporting <br />youth. <br />Club President John Goedeke and Peanut Day Drive Chair <br />Ron Ness were present representing the Kiwanis Club <br />North Suburban Golden K, and reviewed the club's <br />composition and membership (116 members); meeting <br />location; and local initiation of Peanut Day to supplement <br />and recalibrate fundraising opportunities. Mr. Ness <br />reviewed the Peanut Day program and intents. <br />Mr. Goedeke cited an example of a local participant in the <br />Kiwanis and his efforts in developing schools in <br />Afghanistan and Pakistan, particularly to encourage <br />educational opportunities for young women. <br />On behalf of the City Council, Mayor Klausing <br />proclaimed and designated Friday, September 23, 2005 as <br />Roseville Golden K Kiwanis Peanut Day, for the purpose <br />of community-based charitable activities supported by the <br />Kiwanis' Golden K Club; congratulated the group and <br />presented the proclamation. <br />Golden K Kiwa�is <br />Peanut Day <br />Proclamation <br />
