��� <br />��� � <br />Date: 08122105 <br />Item: S.h <br />Proclamation <br />National Alcohol & <br />Dru� Addiction Recoverv Month <br />National Alcohol and Drug Addiction <br />Recovery Month <br />Whereas: Substance use and abuse is a major public health problem that affects people of all <br />ages, genders, races and ethnic backgrounds and all communities; and <br />Whereas: Substance abuse has huge medical, societal and economic costs; and <br />Whereas: Thousands of health care providers have dedicated their lives to the recovery <br />process and to t�.e education of the public about alcoholism, drug dependence and treatment <br />issues; and <br />Whereas: Acknowledging September 2005 as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction <br />Recovery month offers individuals in the substance abuse treatment community an opportunity <br />to educate the public about the effectiveness of treatment; and <br />Whereas: With treatment, even hard-to-reach populations reduces illegal drug use by nearly <br />half and treatment reduces crin�i�al activity by 80%; and <br />Whereas: This year's theme "Join the Voices of Recovery: I-Sealing Lives, Families and <br />Communities" lets people know that alcohol and drug use disorders can be treated effectively; <br />and <br />Whereas: Families, friends and communities can play a critical role in a person's recovery. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, The City of Roseville hereby designates September 2005 <br />National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month <br />iia the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, �.S.A <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Roseville <br />to be affixed this 22nd day of August 2005. <br />Mayor Craig D.
