license center
Subject: license center
From: Rogerhessjr@aol.com
Date: Sat, 6 Aug 2005 22:31:17 EDT
To: city.council@ci.roseilfe.mn.us
council members,
i am glad to see that the city staff is even considering moving the license center onto city property,
though they really want to increase the space that they rent. it makes no sense at all to even think about
adding another $15,000 a year in rent paid to the shopping center. don't agree with their estimate of 18
months to build a building on city property. look at perkins - they built their new building in a fraction of
that time and even the huge target store is not going to take nearly that long. i would think that 3 sides
and a roof could be attached to the north side of the skating center in less than 3 months. i still would
like to see a drive-up lane for license tabs, which would decrease the space needed inside of the
building.
finally, i still think one of the biggest problems with the license center is the hours that it is open. since
the monday-friday hours are 9-5, there is no way for the majority of the public to get there during the
week, so saturday's are very overcrowded. i went there today, saturday, to renew my license tabs and
my driver's license and the license tabs were handled very quickly, but the wait was way too (ong for me
to even attempt to renew my driver's license. if you work 8-4 or 9-5 you can not get to the license center
monday through friday. they really need to have at least one or two nights where they are open until at
least 7 pm so that people can get there during the week. even bloomington has one night when they are
open late. one or two longer hour nights would cut down on the large waits on saturday.
thank you for your considerations,
roger b. hess, jr.
1914 wagener place
roseville, mn
= rxf J 88lU0 I:r Ph11
