BACKGROUND
Mihai Marasteanu has resigned from the Public Works, Environment, and Transportation
Commission. See his e-mail, attached. There are approximately six months left on his term.
II. OPTIONS
A. Direct staff to solicit new applications and have Council interview a new set of applicants.
B. Rather than solicit ieru applicattoa and go through another round of interviews iow-- all for a
term that expires in six months iext March 3 0-- you could do one of two things. Either:
Rely on the rankings you perfonned in April of this year. Attached is that ranking forrc.
Then, you appointed the #1 ranked applicant, Don Shiely, and the #2 ranked applicant,
Joel Fisher, to fill the two vacancies that existed then. Now, yo could appoint the #3
ranked applicant, Randy Neprash, to serve for the remaining siY nonils of Mr.
Marasteanu's term. Mr. Neprash received the #2 ranking score based o1 Councilnem-
bers' aggregate rankings. When we factored in the ranking provided by the Chair of the
PWET Commission, Mr. Neprash was #3 overall. Or, you could
b. Just wait until the dust settles fi•orn the upcoming election and until you go through the
application and inteview process next Spring to fill vaca.cie on citizen advisory com-
missions. That is wllez Mr. Marasteanu's term expires anyway and when coniuity
volunteers will be in application-mode and the Coutcii will be in interview-mode. In the
meantime, PWET would operate with 4 members.
IIL COUNCIL ACTION
Council motion adopting one of the options described above, or some other course of action
